I wish...

I have a poem for you today. Earlier this year, I took part in an online competition to write flash fiction, or a short poem, from this picture prompt: I didn't win, but I like the entries I made. Here is one of them.

I wish I hadn’t lost my bus ticket.

I wish I hadn’t turned around when he called

‘Hey! Where do you need to go?’

I wish he hadn’t looked so friendly.

I wish he hadn’t stopped in the middle of nowhere.

I wish child locks hadn’t been invented.

I wish I’d fought harder.

I wish I were stronger so I could’ve hurt him.

I wish I didn’t hurt so much.

I wish another car would come by.

I wish I wasn’t so frightened.
